Research Experience
Currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Delaware (2025-present), and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Computer Science, McGill University. Was an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department, University of South Carolina (2014-2024). Visiting Fellow at the Canadian Space Agency (2004-2007) working on Planetary exploration and On-Orbit-Servicing of Satellites. Research Associate at Centre for Intelligent Machines, McGill University with Professor Gregory Dudek in the Mobile Robotics Lab (MRL) in 2004. Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University in the Sensor Based Planning Lab with Professor Howie Choset (2002-2003).
Education
Ph.D. from School of Computer Science, McGill University, Canada in 2002, supervised by Professors Gregory Dudek and Evangelos Milios; M.Sc. in Computer Vision at McGill University in 1995; B.Sc. from Department of Informatics, University of Athens, Greece in 1991.
Background
Research interests include mobile robotics, particularly in the area of cooperating intelligent agents with applications to multi-robot cooperative localization, mapping, exploration, and coverage. Interests also extend to computer vision and sensor networks.
