He has published selected works on topics such as active perception, social interaction, social media, computational neuroscience, and psychiatry.
Research Experience
He joined the University of Milano Bicocca as an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in October 2020. He is involved in several projects, including COURAGE (developing a Virtual Social Media Companion), POTION (developing Bayesian computational models of multimodal social interaction), and Learning Active Vision for HRI (using Deep Reinforcement Learning to endow robots with active perception capabilities for human-robot collaboration in complex environments).
Background
His research interests span from Robotics and Machine Learning to Computational Neuroscience. He aims to create adaptive artificial systems with exploratory skills and active perception capabilities flexible enough to tackle complex social environments (physical or virtual). He also studies how these skills are realized in living organisms together with the causes and consequences of their failures.
