Academic Achievements
  • Projects involved: Beyond simple choices: computational and neuronal mechanisms for complex spatial behaviors; GOAL-Leaders: Goal-directed, Adaptive Builder Robots; HiPlan: hierarchical planning during spatial navigation; HUMANOBS: Humanoids that Learn Socio-communicative Skills by Observation; MindRACES: from Reactive to Anticipatory Cognitive Embodied Systems; Thinking Ahead: human planning from a predictive processing perspective.
Research Experience
  • I use a combination of theoretical, computational and empirical methods to study cognitive processing in humans and other animals, and to realize robots that have similar abilities.
Education
  • I got a degree in Philosophy of Science (University of Pisa) and a PhD in Cognitive Psychology (University of Rome 'La Sapienza').
Background
  • I am a researcher at the National Research Council of Italy, Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC-CNR), in Rome. My research interests include dynamics in real-time decisions and cognitive processing, goal-directed action and cognitive control, goal-directed decision-making and uncertainty, goal-directed spatial navigation and planning in the hippocampus, grounded, embodied, and situated theories of cognition, grounding higher cognition in sensorimotor and predictive loops, interoception and embodied predictive coding, joint actions and the pragmatic foundations of interaction and communication, predictive processing in the brain, representation: an action- and prediction-based view.
