Academic Achievements
Consistently published research outputs since 2004, with varying numbers each year. Has received prizes and participated in multiple research activities.
Research Experience
Awarded an EPSRC grant (AILap) for developing next-generation laparoscopy trainers, collaborating closely with the Surgical Skills Centre at the University of Dundee. Also developed an experimental Robotic Surgery Setup as a follow-up to the UnLapSkill project, aimed at capturing surgeon skills. In medical robotics, contributed to designing and developing devices such as a hand-exoskeleton for assessing spasticity and a laser ablation instrument.
Background
Mainstream research focuses on the physical interaction of robots with humans, objects, and the environment, particularly in physically assistive robotics. Active in medical robotics, robotic surgery, laparoscopy, and industrial robotics for dangerous tasks like underwater operations and laser alignment automation. Aims to 'capture human skills for robotic automation' by understanding how human workers execute tasks and automating these processes.
