In September 2025, 5 papers were accepted to NeurIPS 2025, including 1 spotlight paper.
Research Experience
Currently an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at UC San Diego. Previously, he was a Young Investigator visiting AI2 mosaic.
Education
PhD from University of Washington (UW, NLP), advised by Yejin Choi
Background
Research interests include natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML). Current research interests include:
- Machine reasoning and generation with large (language/multi-modal/..) models: e.g., compositional constrained generation, reasoning and planning, inference-time control
- Understanding and improving large language/multi-modal models: e.g., attack and defense, evaluation and benchmarking, uncertainty and hallucination
- AI/LLM for science, engineering, health: e.g., interdisciplinary collaboration with domain experts to apply AI and large language models in solving complex problems.
Miscellany
His personal website also mentions that he is taking on new students and postdocs, and there are research positions available for MS/undergrad students (UCSD or external).
