Resume (English only)
Research Experience
  • Professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; leads the Computational Cognitive Science group that combines computational models (drawing chiefly on Bayesian statistics, probabilistic generative models, and probabilistic programming) with behavioral experiments in adults and children to explore the underlying logic supporting reliable generalization from limited data.
Background
  • Research interests include understanding the most elusive aspect of human intelligence: our ability to learn so much about the world, so rapidly and flexibly. Specifically, how we acquire a commonsense understanding of the world given what is by today's engineering standards so little data, time, and energy.
Miscellany
  • Encourages applications from students in underrepresented groups in cognitive science or AI; suggests interested students to apply to both the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for maximizing their chances of acceptance.
