Served as Workshop Co-Chairs for ACM Multimedia Asia 2025 and organized workshops in ACM Multimedia 2025. Invited to serve as Associate Editor for TOIS and TOMM.
Research Experience
Serves as an Assistant Professor at SMU, leading the CoAgent Lab. Research focuses on proactive conversational AI, multimodal conversational search and recommendation, and interdisciplinary applications of conversational AI (e.g., ChatPal, learning companions).

Leads the CoAgent Lab, focusing on developing trustworthy conversational and multimodal foundation models that understand context and act proactively—planning ahead, debating, reflecting, and coordinating actions. Research areas include multi-agent training and inference, alignment and evaluation for safety, reliability, and faithfulness, and multimodal reasoning and generation across text, speech, vision, and audio.
