Wrote for Germany's most successful role-playing game, Das Schwarze Auge (translated as The Dark Eye in English). Contributed to several open-source projects around the game, DSA4 Werkzeug and Niobaras Foliant. Founding administrator of the Croatian Wikipedia and worked on the webcomic nutkidz. Collaborated on the German translation of something*positive. His master's thesis created the first validating XML parser and DOM implementation accessible from the Ada 95 programming language.
Research Experience
Currently working on Abstract Wikipedia at the Wikimedia Foundation and holds a visiting professorship at King's College London. Previously, he worked at Google on the Knowledge Graph, at the AIFB Institute (part of KIT), and founded Wikidata at Wikimedia Deutschland. He was also an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Education
Awarded a PhD summa cum laude, specifically a Doctor of Political Sciences (Dr.rer.pol.) from the Faculty of Economics, after completing studies in computer science and philosophy. He was a visiting researcher at the Laboratory of Applied Ontologies at CNR, Rome, and the ISI Information Sciences Institute, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Background
Working on massive collaboration and the Semantic Web. He is convinced that semantic technologies can help make computers much easier to use, improve communication and decision-making, reduce misunderstandings, and allow more people to reach their full potential. One of his major motivations is to make the world a better place for all people.
