Published numerous papers in areas such as DNA data storage, machine learning systems, and hardware/software interfaces. Some recent publications include 'DietCode: Automatic Optimization for Dynamic Tensor Programs' (MLSys'22), 'SRIFTY: Swift and Thrifty Distributed Neural Network Training on the Cloud' (MLSys'22), and more.
Research Experience
Professor at Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Washington; leads three research groups: Sampa (hardware/software systems), SAMPL (machine learning systems and architecture), and MISL (using DNA for information technology applications). Also co-founder and CEO of OctoML.
Background
Research interests lie at the intersection of computer architecture, programming languages, machine learning, and biology. The goal is to explore new and better ways to build computing systems.
