Author of seventy peer-reviewed articles appearing in various prestigious AI venues. Published an open access textbook titled 'Discrete Mathematics in a Nutshell or Theoretical Foundations of Computer Science' and a book targeting young adult audience titled 'Digital Minimalism for Teens'. Received Mentor of the Year Award from Aksarben Foundation in 2025; Outstanding Research and Creativity Award by the College of IS&T in 2024.
Research Experience
Joined the Computer Science Department in the College of Information Science & Technology (IS&T) at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) in 2012. Co-director of the NLPKR lab. Has served as program co-chair for several international conferences.
Education
Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. Was a Computing Innovation Fellow Postdoc at the University of Kentucky prior to joining UNO.

Research interests are in the field of artificial intelligence, especially in the area of knowledge representation, automated reasoning, declarative problem solving, and natural language understanding. Currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
