Research focus includes social sensing and intelligence, human-centered AI, human-AI teaming, AI for social good, responsible AI, data quality, big data analytics, cyber-physical-human systems, smart cities, and edge computing.
Currently a Professor at the School of Information Sciences, University of Illinois (joined as Associate Professor in August 2021).
Previously served as Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame.
His work has been applied in real-world domains such as social network analysis, crowdsourcing, disaster response, education, smart cities, synthetic biology, and environmental sustainability.
Published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and developed software tools adopted by academia, industry, and government research labs.
Authored the book 'Social Edge Computing: Empowering Human-Centric Edge Computing, Learning and Intelligence' (Springer, 2023).
