Archiverse: an Approach for Immersive Cultural Heritage

The fragmented or ruinous state of many cultural heritage sites impedes accurate reconstruction of their original forms and historical contexts. Method: This paper proposes an immersive, interactive VR/XR-based re-creation framework that integrates laser scanning, photogrammetry, and mixed reality technologies to synthesize heterogeneous archaeological, historical, and architectural data into a high-fidelity, interactive digital heritage environment within a unified XR platform. Contribution/Results: The framework innovatively transcends discipline-specific modeling constraints by establishing a cross-disciplinary, visually supported workflow enabling collaborative annotation and dynamic evolution of reconstructions. It simultaneously optimizes interfaces for scholarly analysis and public accessibility. Empirical evaluation demonstrates significantly improved spatial-logical reconstruction accuracy of heritage sites and achieves a balanced trade-off between analytical depth for researchers and broad public engagement—offering a scalable, transferable technical paradigm for the revitalization and sustainable transmission of endangered cultural heritage.
