Academic Achievements
  • Awarded the 2025 ASQ Shewhart Medal and the 2025 IISE George L. Smith International Awards for Excellence in Promotion of Industrial Engineering Award. Served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Quality Technology (JQT) from 2016 to 2018, Vice President of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ) in 2018, Regional Vice President (Asia) of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) in 2008, Founding Vice Chair in 2007 and 2009 Chair of the Service Science Section (INFORMS), and Chair of the Quality, Statistics, and Reliability (QSR) Section (INFORMS) in 2004.

  • Worked at Ford Motor Company, Rockwell International, and conducted post-doctoral research at Chrysler Corporation. Currently, Chair Professor at HKUST, Director of the Industrial Informatics and Intelligence Institute (Triple-I Institute) and the Quality and Data Analytics Lab (QLab).
