Research Experience
Since 2020, he has been the co-animator of AIby4 (Artificial Intelligence by human, for human), federating 13 labs of the Nantes area on the usage of AI for health and industry. He is also the head of the IPI team of the LS2N.
Background
Full Professor at Nantes Université, teaching industrial computing at the IUT (Technical Institute) of Nantes and conducting research within the Image Perception Interaction team of the Nantes Digital Sciences Laboratory (LS2N). His research field is pattern recognition, especially with deep neural networks. He has been working on handwriting analysis since his thesis in 2007, including text, equations, or diagrams on tactile surfaces or ancient handwritten documents. He led the series of international CROHME competitions for the recognition of handwritten equations. Since his HDR in 2016, he is also interested in medical image analysis (computer-aided decision in gastroenterology and microscopy) and industrial images (pose estimation of industrial objects from 2D images).
