Co-authored two books and many journal papers and conference proceedings. He is an associate editor of Springer’s Visual Computer and an editorial board member of MDPI Technologies.
Research Experience
He has been an assistant professor at the University of Padova from 2007 to 2020. From 2020, he is an associate professor at the same university. He has also been a visiting researcher at the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia) in 2006 and in 2010. He has been involved in several European (VITRA, MUSTEEL, Mu-Blast), National, and university-funded projects. He has also been the scientific coordinator for industry-funded projects including the “Next generation Time-of-Flight cameras” project funded by Sony EuTec.
Education
Graduated in Computer Engineering at the University of Padova in 2003 and got the PhD from the same university in 2007.
Background
His research interests include semantic scene understanding with a special focus on domain adaptation and incremental learning techniques for deep networks and multi-modal data, federated learning techniques for computer vision, 3D data acquisition, Time-of-Flight sensor data processing, gesture recognition, 3D shape classification, and the compression of depth maps and multi-view representations. He works in the multimedia research group.
