Academic Achievements
Published more than 320 research papers in highly ranked journals and conference papers; awarded the Outstanding Research Award twice, the Distinguished Scholars Research Project once, and an Overseas Research Fellowship twice by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Taiwan; invited to serve as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Reliability and Reliability Engineering & System Safety; proposed a novel Simplified Swarm Optimization (SSO) and Binary-Addition-Tree Algorithm (BAT); has been granted 57 patents and earns titles such as International Fellow, Guoguang Invention Medal, Outstanding Inventor of Taiwan, and Doctor of Erudition.
Research Experience
The majority of his current research and future work are focused around algorithms, including exact solution methods and soft computing for all kinds of network reliability problems and optimization problems (wireless sensor network, cloud computing, IoT, big data, energy), etc.
Education
Received M.S. and Ph.D. from the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Background
Research interests include Network Reliability, SSO and Soft Computing, Data Mining, Cloud Computing Management, and Scheduling Problem. Currently a Chair Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan.
