He has published numerous papers in international journals and conferences. He regularly carries out scientific review activities for international journals. He was Guest Editor for the Special Issue 'Advancements in Deepfake Technology, Biometry System, and Multimedia Forensic' in the MDPI Journal of Imaging.
Research Experience
Since January 1, 2022, he has been a research fellow in Computer Science at the University of Catania. Part of his Ph.D. research was carried out at the University of Hertfordshire, focusing on the creation of a VR tool for forensic ballistics analysis and firearms comparison. Since 2022, he has participated in organizing various prestigious international events (Technical Programme Committee, challenges, tutorials). He was a speaker at the International Forensics Summer School (IFOSS) in 2022 and a member of the organizational team for several international summer schools (ICVSS, MISS).
Education
Ph.D. from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Catania (March 31, 2018 - June 30, 2021), supervised by Prof. Salvatore Livatino; MSc (cum laude) from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Catania (2015 - 2017).
Background
Research interests include Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Multimedia Forensics, with a focus on developing deepfake detection algorithms based on the identification and analysis of intrinsic traces left during the creation process in images, video, audio, and, in general, in multimodal data.
