Received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1985, with a thesis entitled 'A multiversion concurrency control algorithm for file management in distributed computer systems'; received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston, Houston, Texas, USA in 1990, with a dissertation entitled 'Dynamic resource allocation and job scheduling in p'.
