Academic Achievements
Published over 30 academic papers and awarded patents addressing research challenges in computer systems, cybersecurity, and machine learning domains. PyLingual research is selected as a finalist for CSAW North America 2025. Multiple papers accepted to conferences such as CCS 2025, PLDI 2025 Tutorial session, Oakland 2025. Presented research at Black Hat 2024, PyCon 2024, and other conferences.
Research Experience
Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Texas at Dallas since 2019. Before joining UT Dallas, he spent five years as a security researcher at NEC Laboratories America, tackling various real-world security problems.
Education
Ph.D. in Computer Science (2014) from Columbia University, supervised by Professor Angelos D. Keromytis; B.A. in Mathematics (2000) from Korea University, South Korea.
Background
Research interests include system provenance, decompiling High-level Dynamic Languages (HDLs), and the safety and security of small satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Specializes in computer science with a focus on cybersecurity and machine learning.
