Academic Achievements
- Has been qualified as a Full Professor in Computer Science since 2018 and in Computer Engineering since 2023; serves as the president of the board of directors for the User Modeling community UM Inc., which also acts as a steering committee for the ACM Conference Series 'User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization' (UMAP); is an editorial board member of several journals including UMUAI and Behaviour & Information Technology; has been part of the program committees for numerous international conferences and workshops; has guest-edited special issues for journals such as ACM Transactions on Intelligent Interactive Systems and International Journal of Human-Computer Studies.
Research Experience
- Visited Prof. Alfred Kobsa at the Institute for Software Research, University of California, Irvine, from January to March 2002; held a temporary researcher position at the Department of Computer Science, University of Torino, from 2003 to 2005; served as an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Torino, and the School of Multimedia and Arts from 2005 to 2015; currently an associate professor and Deputy Head of Department for technology transfer and public engagement at the Department of Computer Science, University of Torino.
Education
- Received a degree in Communication Science from the University of Torino in 1998; obtained a Master in Web Technology and Security in 2000; earned a Ph.D. in Communication Science and Design from the Department of Computer Science, University of Torino (1999-2002), under the supervision of Prof. Luca Console.

Miscellany
- Leads the Advanced Interactions and Robotic lab (AIRLab) at her department and heads the smart HCI lab at the ICxT Innovation center; since 2024, she is an affiliated researcher at the CONTACT (COgNiTive Architecture for Collaborative Technologies) Unit of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), focusing on user modeling and robot adaptation in affective HRI.
