He has received several awards, including the Singapore Young Scientist Award in 2025, IEEE AI's 10 to Watch, and the NUS Young Research Award in 2024. His PhD students have also won multiple awards, such as the ByteDance Scholarship and Google Fellowship. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Image Processing (TIP).
Research Experience
Worked as a Postdoc at the Image Formation and Processing (IFP) group with the late Prof. Thomas Huang at Beckman Institute, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Previously, he was an assistant professor in the Department of CS at Stevens Institute of Technology.
Education
Received his Ph.D. from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2015, under the supervision of Prof. Pascal Fua. He obtained his B.Sc. with first-class honors from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) in 2010, with a GPA of 4.0/4.0 and the most outstanding thesis award.
Background
Research interests include machine learning and artificial intelligence. Currently, he is an assistant professor in the Department of ECE at NUS and a Presidential Young Professor.
