Academic Achievements
- Published multiple papers including 'Informed Repurposing of Quadruped Legs for New Tasks', 'Curating Tunable, Compliant Legs for Specialized Tasks', 'Development of A Dynamic Quadruped with Tunable, Compliant Legs', and 'Direct Encoding of Tunable Stiffness Into an Origami-Inspired Jumping Robot Leg'.
Research Experience
- At IDEA Lab, developing simulation models, fabrication pipelines, and reinforcement learning frameworks to enable tuning and optimization of dynamic laminate robots made from low-cost and compliant materials. Also developed a GPU-accelerated multi-degree-of-freedom multi-bar planar/spherical linkage synthesis tool to expand the design space of quadruped legs.
Education
- Received Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Robotics Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) from August 2012 to December 2017. During this time, was also a research assistant in the WPI Soft Robotics Lab run by Professor Cagdas Onal.
Background
- Currently a robotics PhD candidate in the Integrating Design, Engineering, and Analysis (IDEA) Lab at Arizona State University (ASU), led by Professor Dan Aukes. Planning to graduate in December 2025 and looking for a job in academia or industry. Research interests include design, fabrication, and control methods for accessible robots that excel in cost, compliance, and safety. Currently focusing on optimizing robot design and control for specific tasks.
Miscellany
- Before pursuing the PhD, co-founded a startup company called Orimagi, where he was in charge of the development and production of an educational origami robot kit.
