Research Experience
Teaching CSE442 Data Visualization (Winter 2024) and CSE512 Data Visualization (Spring 2024). Research projects include Vega (declarative languages for interactive data visualization), interactive visualization tools (such as Voyager, Lyra, GraphScape), reverse-engineering visualizations using computer vision techniques (software: REV), scalable visualization (systems and experiments for low-latency interaction with massive data sets, software: Falcon), Data-Driven Documents (D3) for web-based visualization, data wrangling tools (now commercialized as Trifacta), adaptive language translation tools (now developed by Lilt), text analysis & visualization (large-scale text mining, model assessment, and interactive machine learning), graphical perception studies (to inform more effective visualization design), and social data analysis (via collaborative, interactive visualizations on the web).
