Academic Achievements
- Published 30+ top-tier NLP/ML conference papers and has 17+ patents (12 granted, 5 filed). Organized workshops at top-tier external NLP conferences (NLP4MC at NAACL 2021, NLP4MC at ACL 2020), and chaired sessions at NLP conferences (NAACL Industry Track 2019). Co-chair for the Industry Track at NAACL 2022. Served on program committees for ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, COLING, and AAAI.
Research Experience
- Worked as a Research Staff Member at IBM's India Research Lab (IRL) from 2011 to 2015, part of the Machine Translation team and Watson for Contact Centers team. Postdoctoral scholar at UCSD in 2015, then joined IBM, Almaden, San Jose as a Research Staff Member, part of the Watson Knowledge Discovery group and the Watson for Pharmacovigilance group. Currently, a Principal Machine Learning Scientist in AWS AI working on Conversational AI.

- Received a PhD from the Language Technologies Institute, School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in 2011. Master's degree from CMU in 2005. B.E in Electronics and Communication from M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
Background
- Interests include Machine Learning (ML) for Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. Worked on applications in healthcare analytics, question answering, information retrieval - especially from social media, machine translation, and speech science.
