She was named a Future Leader by the Computing Research Association, inducted into the Women in Games Hall of Fame in 2020, participated in Project Horseshoe, won Carnegie Mellon’s Teaching Innovation Award in 2018, and the Lazarus Award for Advising and Mentorship in 2022. She is also an award-winning game designer, with national and international recognition for her games.
Research Experience
She has worked on several research projects, such as developing games that promote healthy sleep, and the CARE project, which aims to design interventions to help targets of everyday racism cope with these negative experiences.
Background
She is an Associate Professor in the HCI Institute and Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University, and the Director of the Center for Transformational Play. Her research interests include transformational games, project-based learning, and inclusive design innovation.
