Academic Achievements
- Published several key papers on the human microbiome, including but not limited to: 'Integration of 168,000 samples reveals global patterns of the human gut microbiome' (Cell, 2025); 'Genomics of host–microbiome interactions in humans' (Nature Reviews Genetics, 2025), etc.
Research Experience
- Based at The University of Chicago, part of the Section of Genetic Medicine in the Biological Sciences Division. Focuses on decoding the human microbiome.
Background
- At the interface of human genomics and microbiome research. Our lab pioneers cutting-edge computational approaches to map the intricate networks connecting human biology with our microbial ecosystems. By integrating genomics, deep learning, and systems biology, we reveal fundamental principles of host-microbiome crosstalk that shape human health, disease susceptibility, and evolutionary adaptation.
Miscellany
- Lab members have received various honors and awards, such as Dr. Kelsey Johnson receiving an NIH K99 award; Dr. Sambhawa Priya being named a Chicago DFI Fellow.
