He is a Research Director and Distinguished Principal Scientist in the Computational Systems and Technology group at the University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute. He has led projects both large and small from sponsors including ONR, NASA, DARPA, IARPA, and the intelligence community.

His research spans a broad range of topics, unified by the theme of heterogeneous systems. This includes resource managers, cloud computing and virtualization, fault tolerance, and heterogeneous compilers. A recent interest is the application of AI to resource management and signal processing. He also teaches the EE557 graduate computer architecture course at USC.
