Academic Achievements
  • Pursues both fundamental and applied research in close collaboration with various industrial partners.
Research Experience
  • Associate Professor at the Control Systems Group, Eindhoven University of Technology. Research involves questions on how to design an input to generate data for efficient and robust learning, how to select a model/controller structure that balances interpretability, flexibility, and accuracy, how to train such a model/controller efficiently, and how to validate the model/controller and assess its uncertainty bounds. The research spans various fields of engineering including motion control problems, structural engineering, telecommunications, high power electronics, fluid dynamics, and more.
Background
  • Research interests include data-driven modeling and control of (nonlinear) dynamical systems. Combines classical systems and control theory with recently developed deep learning and reinforcement learning approaches to develop a wide range and flexible set of tools and methods.
