Papers accepted by NeurIPS 2025, SIGIR-AP 2025, EMNLP 2025, ICCV 2025, and IEEE TPAMI; received NIH R16 Award and NSF ERI Award to support research on medical LVLMs and uncertainty quantification for computational imaging; received RIT GCCIS Emerging Scholar Award.
Research Experience
Currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Information at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Previously, served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Santa Clara University from 2020 to 2022.
Education
Received B.E. and M.E. degrees from Tianjin University in 2012 and 2015, respectively; Ph.D. degree from the ECE Department at Northeastern University, supervised by Prof. Yun Raymond Fu.
Background
Research interests include smart, scalable, and secure machine learning algorithms for applications in healthcare, AI education, computational imaging, and data science. Particularly focused on large language models (LLM) / large vision-language models (LVLM) for reliable multimodal understanding, calibrated uncertainties on low-level vision, ranking fairness, and desired preference.
Miscellany
Looking for highly-motivated graduate (PhD/MS) and undergraduate students to work with his group; welcomed a new baby in December 2024.
