Research Experience
Conducted Ph.D. research at the University of Twente from 2009 to 2013; worked as a research associate at the University of Edinburgh from 2013 to 2018, mainly on performance evaluation of bus services in Edinburgh and bicycle-sharing systems as part of the QUANTICOL project; employed as a research fellow at iTrust, SUTD, from 2018 to 2023, working on blockchain security and scalability; since 2023, has been working as a senior research fellow at Nanyang Technological University, focusing on blockchain interoperability research under the supervision of Anwitaman Datta.
Education
Obtained a Master's degree in Econometrics and Operations Research from VU Amsterdam in 2009, supervised by Ad Ridder and Henk Tijms; started Ph.D. research at the University of Twente in the same year, focusing on rare event simulation for model checking, supervised by Pieter-Tjerk de Boer, Werner Scheinhardt, and Boudewijn Haverkort, and obtained his Ph.D. in 2013.

Born in The Hague in 1985, research interests include rare event simulation, model checking, blockchain security, and interoperability.
