Research Experience
  • Currently a postdoctoral researcher at Yale, working with Rebecca Kramer-Bottiglio. Previously, a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA ECE, working with Ankur Mehta and Jonathan Hopkins.
Education
  • Earned a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from UCLA in June 2023.
Background
  • Research interests include origami and soft robotics, mechanical intelligence, structural instability, computational fabrication, smart materials and structures, and wearable devices. The long-term research goal is to create soft robotic systems that can match the remarkable abilities of biological systems in terms of structural adaptability, physical robustness, and power autonomy.
Miscellany
  • On the academic job market for a faculty position; interested in soft robots in sci-fi stories; discussed soft robotics with sci-fi author Annalee Newitz; attended a workshop celebrating Jennifer Lewis at Harvard; served on the RSS Pioneers 2025 Organizing Committee.
