Recipient of multiple awards, including the Best Paper Award, Robotics Track at the 2024 IEEE 21st International Conference on Smart Communities (HONET), listed among the top 2% scientists in the world by Stanford University (2022-2023), and the Best Paper Award at the 25th Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (2022). Also received a 4-year grant of 200 k€ from the University of Antwerp Research Fund (2019-2023) to perform research on battery-less IoT devices.
Research Experience
Currently an associate research professor at the University of Antwerp and IMEC, leading the Perceptive Radio Systems lab within the IDLab research group.
Education
Received his M.Sc. in Computer Science from Ghent University, Belgium, in 2007; obtained his PhD in Computer Science Engineering at the same university in 2012, focusing on computer networks, specifically multimedia networks and video streaming protocols during his PhD studies.
Background
An associate research professor at the University of Antwerp and IMEC in Belgium, and a member of the IDLab research group, where he leads the Perceptive Radio Systems lab. His research interests lie in future wireless networks and connected applications, particularly intermittent computing and low-power communications for energy-neutral and zero-energy IoT devices, as well as data-driven integrated sensing and communications for situational-aware applications such as extended reality and robot swarms.
