Member of the editorial boards for several prominent journals, including IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, IEEE INTERNET OF THINGS JOURNAL, IEEE Future Directions in Technology, Policy, and Ethics Newsletter, Alexandria Engineering Journal (Elsevier), and Physical Communication (Elsevier). Also serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Smart Vehicles and Smart Transportation.
Research Experience
From 2017 to 2018, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Smart Quantum Communication Center at Korea University. In 2018, he joined Hankuk University of Foreign Studies as an Associate Professor in the Division of Computer and Electronic Systems Engineering. In 2023, Dr. Bilal joined Lancaster University as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the School of Computing and Communications. He has been actively involved in various research projects, including those funded by EU Horizon, IITP, MOTIE, BK21, NRF, and National Science Foundation China.
Education
Received the Ph.D. degree in information and communication network engineering from the School of Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea University of Science and Technology, in 2017.
Background
Research interests include Network Optimization, Cyber Security, the Internet of Things, Vehicular Networks, Information-Centric Networking, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud/Fog Computing. Known for his wide-ranging contributions to numerous articles published in top-tier journals and conferences, and has successfully acquired multiple US and Korean patents.
