Awarded twice the IBM PhD Fellowship (2016-2017, 2017-2018). Involved in projects: CrowdTruth - a novel approach for crowdsourcing ground truth data by harnessing inter-annotator disagreement; DIVE+ - a linked-data digital collection browser aimed at providing integrated and interactive access to multimedia objects from various heterogeneous online collections.
Research Experience
Since 2022, working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Dynamic and Distributed Information Systems Group, Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich. Prior to that, was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Web Information Systems group at Delft University of Technology, focusing on the Responsible Data Science track in the Digital Society research programme. Also served as a visiting researcher in the User Centric Data Science group, Computer Science department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Education
Before January 2019, a PhD student in the User Centric Data Science group at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, supervised by prof.dr. Lora Aroyo.
Background
Research interests include understanding events and their semantic representation across various data types (text, image, video) and different domains (history, politics). Also focused on the role of events with respect to other entities such as places, people, time expressions, and detecting their contextual relevance, salience, or novelty. Applied technologies like NLP, semantic modeling, human computation, and machine learning.
