  • Author of more than 120 publications on International Journals and Conferences.
Research Experience
  • Joined the University of Siena in 1996, where he is currently a full professor in the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics. Served as an Associate Editor of the Association for Computing Machinery’s Transactions on Internet Technology (ACM TOIT) and has been a member of the program committee of several international conferences and workshops. Guest Editor of a special issue of the ACM TOIT on machine learning and the Internet.
Education
  • Received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Electronics Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering and Control Systems from the University of Florence, in 1991 and 1995, respectively.
Background
  • Research interests include machine learning, neural networks and kernel machines, integration of symbolic and sub-symbolic knowledge, web mining, search engine technology, pattern recognition, natural language processing, and computer vision.
