Academic Achievements
Author of 'Designing User Studies in Informatics' (Springer, 2011). Serves on the editorial board of several journals, co-chairs special issues, sessions, tracks, workshops, and conferences, and is a standing member of the NIH Clinical Data Management and Analysis (CDMA) Study Section.
Research Experience
Professor of MIS and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, and Research Director of the Center for Management Innovations in Healthcare. Her research focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML), funded by NIH, AHRQ, NSF, Microsoft Research, and several foundations.
Education
Combined BS-MS (1996) in cognitive, experimental psychology from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium; MS (1999) and PhD (2003) in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona.

Research interests include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Health Informatics, Information Retrieval, Search Engines, Generative AI, and Consumer Information Access. She is also an expert in Transparent Diagnostic AI.
