Research Experience
Was a Visiting Scientist in the Computer Vision and Image Analysis lab at Cornell from 2001 to 2003; summer intern at Google in New York City in 2005; postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC San Diego before joining CityU.
Education
Received his Ph.D. from UC San Diego in 2008; B.Sc. and M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University in 2000 and 2001, respectively.

Research interests include Computer Vision, Surveillance, Machine Learning, Explainable AI (XAI), Pattern Recognition, Computer Audition, Music Information Retrieval, Eye Gaze Analysis, and more. He is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong, Associate Dean (Research & Postgraduate) in the College of Computing, and Deputy Director of the Multimedia Engineering Research Centre (MERC).
