Multiple papers accepted at top conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR; served as a reviewer for several journals including IEEE Transactions on Information Theory; will serve as an Area Chair for ICLR 2026.
Research Experience
Was a research intern at National Research Council Canada (NRC) during Summer and Fall 2019.
Education
Completed PhD at the University of Ottawa in May 2024, advised by Prof. Yongyi Mao.
Background
Research interests: Theoretical foundations of machine learning, with a particular focus on statistical learning theory and information theory. Primary research area is generalization theory, including both in-distribution and out-of-distribution settings (e.g., domain adaptation), often applying information-theoretic analysis tools. Recently, also exploring safety and trustworthiness in large language models (LLMs), including topics such as LLM alignment and watermarking.
Miscellany
Currently a tenure-track assistant professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology, Tongji University, and affiliated with the Key Laboratory of Embedded System and Service Computing, Ministry of Education, China.
