His work specializes in Generalized Additive Models (P-splines), (Non-)linear Mixed-effects models, Longitudinal data analysis, Survival analysis, Spatial and spatio-temporal modelling, and Sports Analytics.
Research Experience
From 2014 to 2022, he was a researcher at BCAM - Basque Center for Applied Mathematics, leading the research line in Applied Statistics and coordinating the area of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence of the Knowledge Transfer Unit at the Center. From 2011 to 2014, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at CSIRO (the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), Division of Mathematics and Statistics, now part of Data61, in Melbourne, Australia.
Education
He obtained his PhD in Statistics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 2010; MSc in Mathematical Engineering from the same university in 2006; Bachelor of Science in Statistics in 2004; Bachelors of Science and Business Management in 2002, all from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

Currently, he is an assistant professor in Data Science at the School of Science & Technology at IE University and the Chief Scientist of the Health & Tech Lab at ImpactXcelerator. His research focuses on Biostatistics, statistical modeling with applications in Health, biomedical applications, environmental modeling, and sports sciences.
