Academic Achievements
  • Coauthored over 300 publications in international Journals and refereed Conferences, 3 Books (on the Probabilistic Method, on theoretical aspects of sensor networks, on wireless power) and 30 Invited Chapters in Books by major publishers. Served as the Program Committee Chair of several Conferences, and as Editor of major Journals (like TCS, IEEE TC, COMNET, Ad Hoc Networks). Co-initiated international events related to sensor networks (ALGOSENSORS, DCOSS-IoT) and organized several international conferences in Greece (SEA 05, IPDPS 06, MSWiM 07, DCOSS 08, DCOSS 19). Delivered several invited talks and tutorials.
Research Experience
  • Has been a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Geneva, Ottawa, and Southern California (USC). Participated/coordinated several externally funded R&D Projects related to fundamental and applied aspects of modern networks, mainly by the European Union (EU), as well as national research projects and direct contracts from industry.
Background
  • Full Professor and Founding Director of the Internet of Things Laboratory (IoT-Lab) at the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department of Patras University, Greece. Also, a Senior Researcher of the Algorithms Group at the Computer Technology Institute and Press "Diophantus" (CTI), Greece. His research interests include algorithmic aspects of wireless sensor networks and the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), wireless energy transfer protocols, probabilistic algorithms and random graphs, psychoanalysis driven computing and its applications to social networks and interactive media.
Miscellany
  • Included in the list of highly cited computer scientists, based on Google scholar h-index and the number of citations. Led several EU and national innovation projects such as Voice Based Diagnostics (VBD), SynAir-G, zPasteurAIzer, and more.
