He is a member of The Science Academy, Turkey (Bilim Akademisi).
Research Experience
Was a post-doctoral research associate at the Center for Image Processing Research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute between 1997 and 1998 and at the New Jersey Center for Multimedia Research at New Jersey Institute of Technology between 1998 and 2000. Joined the faculty of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Middle East Technical University in August 2000. He is the founding director of METU Center for Image Analysis (OGAM).
Education
Received B.S. degree from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in 1990; M.S. and DIC degrees from Imperial College of Science, Medicine and Technology, London, UK in 1992; and Ph.D. degree from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in 1997, all in Electrical Engineering.
Background
Research interests include image analysis for E/O (visible), thermal, multi-spectral, LIDAR sensors, 3D vision, visual tracking, and image segmentation.
