Research Experience
Spent a wonderful summer at Microsoft Research Asia in 2025, learning and thinking more about AI and its implications; spent a year at Facebook's Core Systems in 2017, working on dealing with datacenter failures; worked with NetApp to study production data ontap; had a short experience at Whova where learned dedication.
Education
PhD: University of California San Diego (advised by a 'rock star' advisor); worked in Göttingen, Germany, and backpacked across Europe for 1.5 years before starting grad school.
Background
Research interests: making computer systems reliable and secure, especially at the cloud and datacenter scale. Aims to help today's systems defend against all kinds of errors and defects, such as software bugs, configuration errors, and design flaws. Worked at Microsoft Research Asia and Facebook.
Miscellany
Enjoys doing relevant systems research, views systems research as building the right swords to fight the dragon (not windmills).
