Academic Achievements
  • Published 173 journal papers (75% of them in the first quartile) and more than 240 conference papers. Co-author of 5 published books and holds 4 granted patents. Research work has received over 10,000 citations. Supported by several European and national grants with a cumulative value of 15M€. Coordinator of 15 EC-funded projects and around 10 projects funded by Spanish and Greek authorities. Research outcomes have been acknowledged by awards in international symposiums and conferences like IEEE ICC (2011, 2014 & 2020), IEEE GLOBECOM (2015).
Research Experience
  • Since 2020, an Associate Professor with the University of Patras (Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics) and a Collaborating Faculty member with the Industrial Systems Institute (ISI) in Patras since 2022. From 2004 to 2021, worked at the Catalan Technological Centre of Telecommunications (CTTC) in Barcelona, Spain.
Education
  • Received a Bachelor's degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1994; Master's degree from the same university in 1997; and a PhD in Broadband Indoor Wireless Communications from the Signal Theory and Communications Department of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona in 2000.
Background
  • Research interests include AI-aided 5G/6G networks, Network slicing, Resource Management, Network Virtualization, Zero-Touch networks, and Micro-Grids design. Other active research areas include MAC protocols for WiFi and WBAN, Cross-Layer PHY/MAC design, multi-user MIMO, Network Coding, Cooperative Communications, Energy Efficiency in infrastructure sharing wireless networks.

  • Currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Networking Letters and as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials and of the IEEE Networks Magazine. Also served as a Guest Editor in special issues of Journals and Magazines like IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Networks Magazine, IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine, etc. Currently an IEEE ComSoc GITC member, previously held positions such as IEEE ComSoc GITC Vice-Chair, IEEE ComSoc EMEA Director (2020-2021).
