Research Experience
Research areas include: DRL applied to perimeter metering control, hysteresis in Macroscopic Fundamental Diagrams, adaptive traffic signals, and network instabilities.
Background
Leader of the Urban Transportation Systems Group, focusing on the design, operation, and management of resilient urban transportation networks. Develops physically consistent models to describe interactions between vehicles and roadway infrastructure, and studies the aggregate outcomes of these interactions that can be used to describe network-wide behavior. The goal is to use these models to identify policies and strategies that improve the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of transport.
