Research Experience
  • Professor of Sociology. He is affiliated with the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, the Harvard Data Science Initiative, the Institute for Quantitative Social Science, and the Multidisciplinary Program in Inequality and Social Policy. His research uses quantitative methods to study urban inequality in the contemporary United States. It focuses on how inequality is created and sustained across institutions such as schools, neighborhoods, and policing. Current projects include work on the social consequences and costs of policing for the education of minority youth, and the role of neighborhood boundaries for spatial dimensions of social inequality.
