Research Experience
Assistant professor at the Methods of AI/Machine Learning group, Department of Computer Science, TUB, from 1994 to 2001, with a year as a post-doc at Carnegie Mellon University; lecturer for Intelligent Systems at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Osnabrück and member of the Cognitive Science Institute; professor of Applied Computer Science/Cognitive Systems at the University of Bamberg since 2004, full professor since 2022; led the Fraunhofer IIS project group Comprehensible AI (CAI) from 2020 to 2025.
Education
Dual master's degrees in psychology and computer science from Technical University Berlin, Germany; received her doctoral degree (Dr. rer.nat.) in computer science from TUB in 1994; habilitation in computer science in 2002.
Background
Research interests include cognitive systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. She is the head of the Cognitive Systems Group at the University of Bamberg and the executive director of the Bamberg Center for Artificial Intelligence.
