  • Member of the board of directors of the Bavarian Research Institute of Digital Transformation (bidt) since 2020; member of the Bavarian AI Council; fortiss research fellow; elected as EurAI fellow in 2022; GI fellow in 2023; elected member of acatech, the National Academy of Science and Engineering, since 2025.

  • Assistant professor at the Methods of AI/Machine Learning group, Department of Computer Science, TUB, from 1994 to 2001, with a year as a post-doc at Carnegie Mellon University; lecturer for Intelligent Systems at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Osnabrück and member of the Cognitive Science Institute; professor of Applied Computer Science/Cognitive Systems at the University of Bamberg since 2004, full professor since 2022; led the Fraunhofer IIS project group Comprehensible AI (CAI) from 2020 to 2025.

  • Dual master's degrees in psychology and computer science from Technical University Berlin, Germany; received her doctoral degree (Dr. rer.nat.) in computer science from TUB in 1994; habilitation in computer science in 2002.
