Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Science at Cornell University. Also serves as Associate Dean for Education, Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. Her research interests lie in natural language processing (NLP), focusing on developing algorithms and systems to improve users' ability to find, absorb, and extract information from online text. The work combines building real NLP systems with addressing theoretical problems using machine learning techniques, including neural networks.
