Research Experience
  • ICREA Professor at the Institute of Cosmological Sciences (ICC), Faculty of Physics, University of Barcelona (Spain). In recent years, he has focused on developing methods that are independent of the assumptions of the cosmology model to explore the fundamental laws of nature.
Background
  • A theoretical physicist interested in a number of problems in cosmology and astrophysics. His research spans from the physics of the early universe to the physics of stars. The main drive of his research is to connect ideas in theoretical physics with observable phenomena and, in turn, explain new observations. The primary objective of his research is to understand the fundamental laws of nature using cosmological and astronomical observations. Main topics of research include: dark energy, the early universe, large scale structure, cosmological parameters, the cosmic microwave background, galaxy formation and evolution, high-redshift galaxies, the age of the universe, stellar evolution, stellar populations, star formation, and the interstellar medium. He is particularly interested in analyzing large datasets and developing rigorous statistical algorithms.
