Worked with the National Flight Academy in Pensacola, Florida, developing flight simulator scenarios to help teach mathematics, physics, and history to at-risk middle and high school students. Collaborated with Design Interactive on CogGauge, a game-based cognitive battery system developed with NASA grant funding to test brain injuries in space.
Research Experience
Served as Program Director over Game Development at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, for 10 years, teaching game development courses before moving into administration. Worked as a teacher and contract game developer. Lived, worked, and studied in the Osaka region of Japan. Speaks fluent conversational Japanese.

Graduated from the University of Florida with a PhD in Computer Engineering.

Currently an Assistant Engineer (faculty member) at the University of Florida in the Engineering Education Department, researching computer science education. Also an affiliate in the Computer & Information Science & Engineering Department. Passionate about computer science education and educational accessibility, particularly interested in the intersection of these topics with game development. Recent work has focused on dual-modality environments that allow new programmers to switch between block and text representations of programs.
Miscellany
Spends weeks in Gainesville and weekends in Orlando. Has a wonderful wife and three children. Loves to develop games and, when time permits, play them occasionally.
