Research Experience
  • Led development of XAI systems for non-expert users, including the EPSRC-funded CHAI project for AI-enabled smart homes, trialed in real homes in early 2023
  • Developed interactive systems providing global, local, and counterfactual explanations
  • Pioneered XAI approaches for graph neural networks, reinforcement learning, and time series ML models
  • Explored the interplay between XAI and security
  • Built multi-agent, data-driven event reasoning frameworks to correlate heterogeneous events in distributed complex environments for situation awareness
  • Applied research in intelligent cyber-physical systems, smart homes, and smart city energy/transport management
  • Conducted theoretical research on uncertain information modeling and fusion, event correlation and reasoning, belief modeling and revision, online planning under uncertainty, and multi-criteria decision making under uncertainty
